Louise M. Weeder
November 5, 1930 ~ January 2, 2025
Born in:
Everett, Massachusetts
Resided in:
Topsfield, Massachusetts
Louise M. (Fandel) Weeder of Topsfield (formally of Revere) MA passed peacefully on the 2nd morning of the New Year 2025, at the grand age of 94 years. Her sendoff was blessed by her family singing and praying her home to a God she was faithful to her entire life.
Born in Everett to Marion (Burns) and William Fandel, Louise was the fifth of eight children. She was a proud graduate of Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing, head nurse on the children’s cancer ward at the Jimmy Fund Clinic (now Dana Farber) in Boston, and later, while raising her family, a nurse at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. Her compassion and dedication to her vocation served as a touchstone for her life. Louise was married for over 59 years to the love of her life, Daniel Weeder, until his death in 2014.
Louise is survived by her seven loving children and their spouses: Daniel Weeder and Susan Kelly, of Harwich, MA; Mary DeAngelis and Marian Roth of Provincetown, MA; Michael Weeder and June McLeavey, of Jackson, NH; Stephen Weeder and Tish Hanlon, of Jackson, NH; Linda and Kurt Schmakel, of Middleton, MA; Diane and John Amaral of Groton, MA; Donna and Eric D’Agostino of Topsfield, MA, her brothers, Henry Fandel of Lynnfield, MA, Arthur Fandel of North Carolina and her Sister, Ann Brennan of Saugus, MA. She is predeceased by her sister, Edwina Dowd and brothers, Joseph Fandel, William Fandel and John Fandel.
Louise’s devotion to her Catholic faith, her ability to love unconditionally, and her belief in the power of prayer were on display for all to witness. These gifts she shared abundantly with her pride and joy, her thirteen grandchildren: Dylan, Emma, Katherine, Noah, Jonathan, Abbey, Lily, Duncan, Julia, Quinlan, Daniel, Sadie and Maeve. And these gifts in turn, will be shared with her eight precious great-grands: Louise, Ethan, Cora, Paulette, Gemma, Bailey, Mercy and Maximillian. “Put it in God’s mother’s hands, she’s a mother, she understands.” These words so often spoken, capture the essence of her extraordinary yet simple life.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Saturday, January 11th in Saint Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St, Topsfield. Visitation will be held from 8:30- 10:00 AM in the church hall prior to the mass. There will be a gathering immediately following the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise’s name to Saint Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St., Topsfield, MA, 01983 or Saint Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch St., Boston MA 02110 or https://stanthonyshrine.org/giving/gift. Auntie Lou,
Heaven is a little brighter with you in it. I am so thankful that I was able to spend some time with you at this year’s family reunion. You are a beautiful soul and modeled the way for all of us with your faith. I am glad you are at peace, with Dan and all your Fandel family. Love you
I knew Louise for a short time but, those visits on Tuesdays will live on in my heart for a very long time. I feel blessed to have had that opportunity, she is a rare gem. God bless you Louise !!
Grammy’s smile exuded kindness and love from the minute we met her several years ago at Abbey & Jake’s engagement. She welcomed the Cooper family with open arms. We are thankful to know such a beautiful strong woman! We will think of her every time we say “Mercy Lou”! She was a great blessing to this world!

Grammy’s smile was one that made you feel welcome. I felt at peace, loved and secure in her presence. What a beautiful soul and matriarch. A sweet sweet lady with so much faith. She will be greatly missed by her amazing family on whom she was a great influence. I am grateful for the delicious mac and cheese she sent to my home when I was sick. Rest peacefully in heaven with your Lord and Savior.
Auntie Lou always had time to talk with you and take an interest in your life. She had an amazing faith and was so caring for others even with 7 kids and later taking care of Uncle Dan for many years. She and my Mom were in nursing school together and Uncle Dan was one of my Dad’s closest friends. She was a true blessing to so many. I’m glad she’s finally at peace and reunited with Dan. We will all miss her smile and presence here but I’m sure Heaven has welcomed her to her eternal home.
