Madeleine V. (d'Entremont) Soucy
December 21, 2013
Madeleine Veronica (d’Entremont) Soucy ,88, passed beautifully from one world to the next surrounded by her family, on December 21, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Lynn, Madeleine was the daughter of the late Joseph Justinian d’Entremont and Mary Nemerise (Bourque) d’Entremont. She was educated at St. Jean’s school in Lynn, and spent much of her younger years singing in pageants and for the U.S.O. during WWII. She always loved children, and worked as a governess in Swampscott for several years before meeting the love of her life, Roland J. Soucy of Danvers. They were married at St. Jean’s Church in 1948 and lived in Danvers, Beverly and Fall River, before settling in Amesbury to raise their twelve children. Their greatest accomplishment was providing for and raising a large loving family. After many years of planning and dreaming, they moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 1985, to enjoy their retirement and a circle of dear friends. Following Roland’s passing in 2003, Madeleine moved back to Danvers to be closer to her young grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has been lovingly cared for by the staff of Putnam Farm for over 8 years, to whom her family is eternally grateful. Madeleine will be remembered most for her love of family, and her ability to greet everyone with her bright eyes and cheerful smile. Her kind and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to be in her presence. Madeleine was predeceased by her loving husband, Roland in 2003, by her sister, Florence LeJeune, and by her brothers, James d’Entremont, Albert d’Entremont and Louis d’Entremont. She is survived by her big brother, Frank d’Entremont of Oregon, her best friend, cousin and sister-in-law, Isabelle (d’Entremont) Soucy, and her 12 children: Doreen Peterson and her husband Donald of Merrimac, Patricia Buchanan of Nevada, Kenneth Soucy and his wife Cathy of Amesbury, Steve Soucy of Rochester, NH, Paul Soucy of Haverhill, Debra Fowler of Seabrook, NH, William Soucy and his wife Renee of Raymond, NH, Bruce Soucy and his wife Marie of Nevada, Lisa Mushow and her husband Ron of Plaistow, NH, Andrew Soucy of Nevada, Cynthia Wiswell and her husband Brent of Brentwood, NH, and Jeannine Nash and her husband Robert of Danvers. Also by her 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, who were the joys of her life. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Madeleine’s name to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 133 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.

To all my cousins and their families you are in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
Aunt Madeleine was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her loving spirit will live on in her legacy. Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
I was one of the staff at Putnam Farm, that got the chance to take care of Madeline. Her bright smile and her joy for singing always made my day at work better. Madeline will be greatly remember by the staff and residents at Putnam. I’m very glad I got to meet her and care for her, I will always remember her and hope she rests in the sweetest of peace.
