Charities
The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in Margaret A. Prentiss 's name.
My sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones.
Peggy will be surely missed. She went to high school with me, and she and I went to swim lessons and girl scouts.
Dear Peggy,
From the day we became dorm neighbors on the 4th floor of JQA (*faces the right way 😉) at UMASS in the fall of 1984, we became fast friends. ❤️
I was so happy when you decided to pledge AXO the semester after I did. We would soon become sorority sisters. ❤️💚 As your pledge period went on, you officially became my little sister. I think you knew it was going to be me when you got to the end of that string. 🥰 From the dorm days to the sorority formals, exchanges, Greek weeks, fundraisers and service projects, the UMASS/Alpha Chi days were some of the best ever. I’ll forever cherish those memories with you.
We both majored in multicultural education, student taught in the same places, and ended up working as teachers in communities near our hometowns on the North Shore. Our mutual love for Jiji the Penguin and ST Math during the later part of our careers brought us lots of math talk and laughter.
Although we didn’t see each other often, we always kept in touch. I loved that you would always let me know when you were heading to Saugus for an event/game for Colin or Delaney and I would come down to meet you and cheer them on with you.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2023, you immediately reached out to me to help me process it all. You shared the ups and downs of your own journey to help me get through mine every step of the way. 💕💕 Since you were (almost 😉) as big a Parrothead as I am, you embraced my “Bubbles Up” mantra. I hope you find JB along that “One Particular Harbor” in Heaven and share many, many margaritas.
You were such a bright light and ALWAYS the life of the party. You could always lift people up when they were down. Thank you for your years of friendship and for just being you. I’ll love and miss you always my AXO little sister. Rest in peace, my friend. 🙏🏻❤️
And as you’re approaching that “Margaritaville” in the sky, and meeting up with friends and family who have gone before you, I know you’ll be raising a glass at 6:00 AM on St Patty’s Day (just not at Delta Upsilon), as will I and all of your UMASS AXO sisters to toast your life, our friendships, and oh so many fond memories. ☘️🍻
“May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.” ☘️🙏🏻❤️💚
