Margaret Louise (MacLean) Gould, 80, died Monday, February 20, 2012 following a brave battle with cancer. She was the wife of Donald M. Gould, with whom she shared more than fifty years of marriage. Born in Nova Scotia on March 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Statira (Pushie) MacLean. She was raised and educated in Marshy Hope, Nova Scotia and immigrated to the United States in 1957. Louise was employed as a licensed practical nurse in the area, working at Hunt Hospital, Salem Hospital, Heritage House, and for many years at the former Liberty Pavilion Nursing Home. A longtime member of the Maple Street Congregational Church, she was an active volunteer with Operation Troop Support. Dedicated to family, she volunteered her time with Girl and Boy Scouts with her children and was a kind and beloved grandmother. Louise enjoyed knitting, keeping her gardens, and annual trips to Nova Scotia to visit family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Susan Gould-McGrath and her husband Charles of Danvers and Capt. Charles Gould, US Army (Ret.) and his wife Joan of Peabody, her grandchildren, Shaelyn and Ethan McGrath, her sisters and brothers, Mildred Dewar, Ruth Kingsbury, and Douglas, Henry, and John Barry MacLean all of Nova Scotia, several nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. Her Funeral Service will be Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at 1PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Saturday from 4-6PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
