Marie C. (Slattery) Murphy, 86, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Murphy. Born in Salem on September 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Philip D. and Mary Alice (O’Rourke) Slattery. Marie was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1944. A Danvers resident since 1950, she was the bookkeeper for the family business, Murphy’s Fruit Mart in Danvers Square for 55years. Marie was a member of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead for more than 30 years. She is survived by her children, Diane Brinkley and her husband Bob of Danvers, Cheryl Tremblay and her husband Dana of Florida, Brian Murphy and his wife Jeanne of Danvers, Susan Dembowski and her husband Chet of Danvers and Janis Conway of Danvers, her grandchildren, Steven Brinkley, Kristin Cicerone, Joanne Beske, Dan Tremblay, Kevin, Colleen and Erin Murphy, Christopher, Jill and Lyn Dembowski and Ryan, Rob, Tim and Lauren Conway, and ten great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Patrick Murphy, her sister Madeline Geraghty and her son-in-law Stephen Conway. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Maries’ name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers.
