MATTAPOISETT- Marilyn A. Almeida, 79, passed away on April 5, 2016 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Boston on December 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Wynne) Almeida. She was raised and educated in South Boston and graduated from Archbishop Cushing Central High School. Marilyn was devoted to her Catholic religion and had been a Sister of Notre Dame, S.N.D., from 1955-1962. She resided in Mattapoisett for much of her life, where she raised her family, owned and operated various businesses such the Village Cleaners and a Package Store, and was involved in town politics. Marilyn was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn of Londonderry, NH, and Carolyn’s husband John and her granddaughter Olivia Garvey, her son Donald Sargelis of Silverdale, WA, and her two siblings, Theresa Tumblin of Malden, MA and Frank Almeida of FL, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, George Almeida, Genevieve Lidgett, Ann Campbell and Janet McDonough. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 8, 2016 in Saint Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody.
