Mary A. (Calder) MacDonald, 82, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She was the wife of Donald H. MacDonald, with whom she shared nearly fifty-eight years of marriage. Born in Marblehead on November 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Joyner) Calder. She was raised and educated in Marblehead and was a graduate of Marblehead High School. She was a longtime Danvers resident. Mrs. MacDonald served as the treasurer of the Marblehead DAR for fourteen years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and in-laws. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Heather Oakes and her husband Mark of Hampton, NH, Stuart MacDonald and his wife Biwei of Haverhill, Douglas MacDonald and his wife Paula of Amesbury, Garry MacDonald of Danvers, and Mark MacDonald and his wife Deidre of Port Charlotte, FL, her siblings, Constance Winter of Marblehead, Edgar Calder Jr. of Nevada, and David Calder of Alaska, her grandchildren, Mirra, Aubrey, Helena, and Maxwell MacDonald, and several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10AM in Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA 02472.
