Mary Alice (McDonald) O’Connor, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 20. Born Nov. 15, 1927 in Salem, MA, Mary was the daughter of the late Anna E. (Millea) and James J. McDonald. She was predeceased by her husband, David M. O’Connor, who passed away in 1993. A graduate of Peabody High School and The Burdett School of Boston, Mary was a long-time employee of Shawmut Bank’s personnel department. Mary was also an avid golfer, a loyal Red Sox fan and an adventurous traveler. She had a wonderful sense of humor, appreciated a good joke, loved to laugh and relished opportunities to make her family and friends smile. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her beloved band of “Nutcrackers”. She is survived by her survived by her three children; son David O’Connor of Danvers, Mass.; son Michael O’Connor and his wife Elizabeth of Richmond, Va.; and daughter Patricia McPherson and her husband David of Pocasset, Mass. She is also survived by six grandchildren: David O’Connor, Cameron O’Connor, Kennard O’Connor, Erin McPherson, Peter McPherson and Brendan McPherson as well as a dear cousin Nancy Endicott and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her three siblings: James L. McDonald, Thomas P. McDonald, and Ruth M. Parsons. Her funeral services will begin at 8AM on Thursday, April 26, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm Street, Danvers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Richard Parish, 90 Forest Street, Danvers. Internment will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St. Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America www.ccfa.org.
