Mary Ann Skinnion
September 18, 1958 ~ January 13, 2024
Mary Ann Skinnion, 65, of Boxford, passed away on January 13, 2024. She was the cherished wife of Robert M. Skinnion for over 36 years.
Born on September 18, 1958, in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of Mary Golar of Boxford and the late Edmond Golar. Mary Ann pursued her undergraduate degree at Barnard and Smith. She earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University.
Mary Ann will be primarily remembered for her profound dedication to her family. She had an unbreakable bond with her husband, children, mother, sister, and extended family. Mary Ann had a very clear set of goals when raising her children Robert and Lauren. She set high expectations that were backed by unlimited love and support. Mary Ann wanted her children to be people of strong moral character and to be good in the true sense of the word. Goal exceeded.
Mary Ann loved the frequent large gatherings of the extended family. She cherished the numerous family and extended family trips to Disney World, Disney cruises and many other adventures and gatherings far too numerous to recount. These memories will be treasured forever.
Mary Ann was a generous person. She enjoyed accumulating toys and clothing for donation and did so over the course of the entire year. Every Christmas she would donate an impressive amount of toys and clothes to those in need. It gave her joy to think of making a child happy. A true animal lover, Mary Ann devoted her time to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue. Her heart and home were always open to animals in need. In addition, Mary Ann had a passion for education, particularly mathematics. As a tutor, she empowered students, helping them succeed and grow in their knowledge and confidence.
Mary Ann faced her illness with incredible strength and dignity, never allowing it to define her. She would want to be remembered for her life, not her illness. She always carried herself with remarkable courage and positivity.
In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves her son, Robert J. Skinnion and his girlfriend, Kelsey, who was like a second daughter; her daughter, Lauren Skinnion; her sister, Carol and her husband, John; her sisters-in-law; and her many nieces and nephews and their spouses.
Visiting hours are Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Her Funeral Service will be Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Boxford Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of her preferred causes.
