Mary Lou (Costello) Sirois, 70, of Stratham, NH, formerly of Ipswich, passed away on August 26, 2019 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard R. Sirois, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage and the proud mother of Richard Sirois Jr. of Salem. Born on April 24, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Margaret (Balduf) Costello of Norwood. Mary Lou was raised in Norwood and was a 1971 graduate of Bridgewater State College. She taught in the Boston school system until joining Appleseed’s Catalog in customer relations. An avid golfer, she enjoyed 33 years at Salem Country Club in Peabody before moving to New Hampshire. She played at Apple Hill Golf Club in Kingston, NH with many ladies with whom she enjoyed good times. She enjoyed traveling in her lifetime, going to 4 continents as an integral partner in her husband’s leather company. Skiing the Alps, visiting South Africa and her family’s home village in Galway, Ireland. A big sports fan, she looked forward to every season, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Paul E. Costello of Walpole. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116 or Kaplan Family Hospice, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.

  1. Mary Lou was such a sweet and lovely gal. She really dug in and played a good round of golf! Always such fun to play with, she was competitive yet very helpful. We will continue to miss her in our Apple Hill Golf League. Rest in peace Mary Lou, we hope you find some gorgeous green fairways up there!!!

  3. Will never forget our great times in college and the cross country trip in 1973. Love you! We knew how to raise hell , enjoy life,and totally misbehave.. can’t tell all because we were very naughty! Dick, she’s a keepah!
