  16. Matt, I can’t get over this, you keep sending signs everywhere I am. Thank you! You had the biggest heart towards me. You were my best friend. I’m not sure who else would run to the nurse’s office just to get an heat pack for my and my difficult joints when it was incredibly cold out, or bringing me breakfast at school. We caused shenanigans, but man I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We talked every day we saw each other everyday, we asked each other opinions on everything there was to life. Rest in Peace my Angel. Like I have been saying, ” We don’t remember the days, we remember the moments” Love you Matty Boy

I’m not a Marine MoM but I am a Marine – my heart is breaking for your loss. My son is serving in the Navy and I too have lost a son. I can’t imagine the pain you are experiencing right now. I am always available if you need someone to talk to. This is not a club I would want any mom to join this is just heartbreaking.

I will be praying for you to be comforted through this difficult time. Know that there are many miltary moms out there right now willing to lend an ear, shoulder anything you need. You are loved more than you know and we are here for you. You can ask Ginny how to reach me if you need anything. God Bless you and all that are suffering with you.

May your Hero Rest In Peace. Please never let anyone tell you your son is not a Hero – He is a Hero and as a Marine he was my brother in arm. May he find peace in the loving arms of his Father in Heaven.

Much love and sympathy to you

  20. Sweet Matty . . . You were just a little boy when I met you for the first time and you always made me laugh with your adventurous spirit, your silliness and that “I’m up to something” smile. It always made me happy to bump into you as you grew and to hear about your successes and what you were doing with your life. I’m so very sad that I won’t ever see you again. The world has truly lost a gentle, beautiful soul. You were truly a sweetheart and a kind, humble young man. You will be missed so much and I will never, ever forget you.

  31. I sadly only met Matt a couple of times. The few times I met him was at Danforth Bay campground. Jimmy and I started camping there and went over to big Matts trailer and the boys were in the camper playing video games. The boys came out to meet us and they were more like brothers than cousins. Very polite and I was impressed. Had some conversation about the firefighter life, had some laughs and gave us some info on the campground so I could pass it along to my kids. He was a great kid. I always think when someone passes from this life to the next I always wish I took the time to get to know them better and Matt was one I wished i knew better. I’ve looked at his Facebook page and some of his videos and comments from his friends who obviously knew him well he has broken many hearts. I was always told if you can count your friends on one hand you were blessed! Well guess what Matt – you were blessed! I am so sorry for you loss Matt and Melody, my heart beaks for you and Matts mom of course. I never met you but my sympathy goes out to you. Great great kid!

  42. Although Matt is my son’s friend, I have enjoyed Matt and have shared many special times with him. Besides Matt finishing my kitchen pantry, clearing brush, and building a tool bench and storage unit all out of recycled wood, he has managed to enlighten every moment he had been visiting with us.

When Matt stayed in our home, he would get up at 5 am just to share breakfast with me. He told me he liked that. When he had free time from work, Matt would find me in the greenhouses and ask what else he could do around the farm to help.

He thanked me for writing him when he was in the service and we talked about his desire to fly some day. We talked about how he loved the Christian music the boys played when he was in the service. We talked about his childhood and his grandmother whom he loved. It was a pleasure when he brought his girlfriend, Jess to meet me and they talked about their hopes for travel to the south.

Matt has always had a special place in my heart and I am blessed to known him.
