Matthew John Nickerson, 38, died suddenly of a heart attack on Jan. 26, 2010. Born in Salem on Oct. 25, 1971, he was the son of John G. and Mary Susan (Santapaula) Nickerson. Matt was raised and educated in Danvers and a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1989. Matt received his Bachelor’s degree in business at the UMass/Lowell. He had been employed at the Allenhurst/Spero’s Sports Bar & Grill for many years. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister Megan Nickerson of North Andover, his brother Michael Nickerson of Danvers, his nephew Jack Nickerson, his niece Nora Nickerson, his aunt Mary Eileen Santapaula, and a wonderful circle of friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat., Jan. 30, 2010 at 1 p.m. in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Jimmy Fund C/O Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226, ATTN: Contribution Services. Arrangements are made by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.

  1. I am so shocked and saddened to learn of Matt’s passing. I just lost my mother a week ago and I truly sympathize with your pain. I remember fondly all the highschool choral events we were in together and being his date at the proms. Please accept my deepest condolences.
