Maureen Lyons Barry was my cousin, “sister” and good friend. We were born in Gardner, MA. My mother, Mary, cared for her when Aunt Gertrude went back to work – “infant sisters.” At 10 years old, I often took the bus to visit Maureen at Hawthorne Blvd in Salem.
We walked to L.H. Rogers Store, where both our mothers worked, and tried on clothes. I joined her high school friends when my Beverly friends got married. Maureen met David at “Molly Waldo’s” in Marblehead, and it was “love at first sight. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. We took our mothers to lunch at Danversport Yacht Club. We attended Catherine Laboure’ School of Nursing at Carney Hospital in Dorchester together. We both moved to Florida. We stayed in touch through the years. Both had sons named Kevin and Brian. Two years ago I visited Maureen at her son’s lovely home. We chatted about our experiences along life’s way for hours. I will miss you, cousin. Rest in peace until we meet again. My deepest sympathy to your family and friends. Now you join your beloved David and Jesus in heaven. I love you, Maureen. ❤️ Janice Rockwell Micco, Florida
