Michael Joseph Tofalo

Michael J. Tofalo, 81, passed away on August 1, 2026 following a brief illness.

Born in Panni, Italy, on August 21, 1944, Michael was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Cacchiotti) Tofalo. He immigrated to the United States in 1965 and later settled in Danvers, where he raised his family. A longtime welder, Michael owned J.D.M. Welding for many years. He enjoyed playing and watching soccer and had competed at the semi-professional level. An avid reader with a special interest in history, he also enjoyed chess, fishing, hunting, and gardening.

He was a devoted grandfather and loved spending time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by his children Joseph Tofalo of Danvers, Daniel Tofalo and his wife Patricia of Melrose and Michelle Sutherland and her husband Joseph of Danvers, his beloved granddaughters, Gianna, Emma, Allyson and Rachel, his sister Sara Tofalo of Terento, Italy and his extended family. He was predeceased by his former wife, Maria (Gesualdi) Tofalo just one week ago.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00PM on Friday, August 7, 2026 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held on Friday prior to the Mass from 10-11:30AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
