Muriel R. (O’Shea) Delaney, 90, died Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Arthur M. Delaney, of Danvers, with whom she shared sixty-five years of marriage. Born in Lynn on June 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Riley) O’Shea. She was raised and educated in Lynn, graduating from St. Mary’s Girls High School in 1950. She received a bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College in 1954 and later earned a master’s degree from Salem State College. Muriel was employed as a guidance counselor in Lynn middle schools until the time of her retirement. A Danvers resident for sixty-two years and a founding member of Saint Richard Parish, Muriel and her husband were active members of the Catholic Couples Club for many years. A devoted mother, she was a past president of the Saint Mary of the Annunciation School Board and a member of the Guild of Saint William at St. John’s Prep. She also happily gave many hours to Danvers National Little League with other league mothers. Muriel was a captivating storyteller and most enjoyed her time at the many “Delaney” family events surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She loved spending winters at the MacArthur Beach & Racquet Club on the island in Venice, FL and summer weeks in Dennisport on Cape Cod. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, William Delaney and his wife Mary of Beverly, Kathleen Duggan and her husband Greg Heppner of Wenham, Thomas Delaney and his wife Brenda of Danvers, Frank Delaney and his wife Kelly of Danvers, and Michael Delaney and his wife Caroline of Manchester, NH, seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her brother, George O’Shea, Jr. and his wife Ann of Wenham, and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
