Nancy Grey (King) Chase, 85, died at her home in Wolfeboro, NH on January 22, 2012, following a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Henry A. and Marjorie G. (Merrill) King, she was born in Salem on March 1, 1926. Until her recent move to Wolfeboro for convalescence, she was a lifelong resident of Peabody, graduating from Peabody High School in 1943 and Salem Commercial School in 1946. Her work career included administrative positions with Lawrence Leathers, Allyn Hardware, and the J.B. Thomas Hospital. Mrs. Chase was predeceased in 2003 by her husband of 55 years, George B. Chase, Jr. She and “Chasie” shared a love of home, family, and music and were active partners in local choral groups including the Paul Madore Chorale, The North Shore Chorus, and the South Congregational Church Choir in Peabody, where they were lifelong members. Her powerful soprano voice was a musical cornerstone of the North Shore and she was a featured soprano in many contemporary and sacred music presentations. She is survived by her three children, Philip K. Chase and his wife Deborah of Strafford, NH; Stuart M. Chase and his wife Jacinta “Cindy” of Wolfeboro, NH, and Marjorie E. Chase of Peabody. She was the grandmother of five, Rebecca A. Chase of Manchester, NH, Bradford M. Chase and his wife Jennifer, Katy E. Doherty and her husband Jason, Michael N. Chase and his wife Dena, all of Danvers, and Adam P. Chase and his fiancé Kate Liscinsky of Boston. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10AM in the South Congregation Church, 60 Prospect St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to South Congregational Church, 60 Prospect St., Peabody, MA 01960 or Central New Hampshire VNA and Hospice, 240 So. Main St., Wolfeboro, NH 03894.
