Nicholas C. “Nick” Stavropoulos, 74,passed away on November 29, 2012 in Florida. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Oxley) Stavropoulos. Born in Arlington on Dec. 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Christos and Genevieve (Psaltis) Stavropoulos. He was raised and educated in Cambridge. He served our country during the Vietnam War and was an honorably discharged Veteran. Nick was a retired Teamster of Union Local 25. Before relocating to Florida, Nick was a longtime member of the Melrose Elks. Nick’s favorite pastimes included gardening and backyard barbeques under his grapevine with special neighbors, family and friends. He could usually be found in his yard working on various projects, some finished, many not. Traveling with close friends to the Caribbean was also a highlight for him and his late wife Barbara. Nick was also an avid New England sports enthusiast who was often seen around town sporting his favorite team t-shirts and logo baseball hats. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Paul Kilroy of Danvers and Cathy and Paul Ellsworth of Danvers, his sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Bob Wheatley of Peabody, four grandchildren, Brad and Amanda Mickle and Ryan and Katelyn Ellsworth as well as a goddaughter, Jennifer Wheatley. A Graveside service will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Friday, December 7, 2012 in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited.
