Olive (Atkins) (Martin) Broome, 86, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Broome, who died in February. Born in Salem on March 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence Atkins. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of the Chelsea Memorial School of Nursing. A Beverly resident for more than twenty years, she had previously lived in Danvers for many years. For more than thirty years, she was employed as a registered nurse at the former United Shoe Manufacturing Corp. in Beverly. Olive and her husband enjoyed dancing and attending the North Shore Music Theater and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Marie Martin of Danvers, three grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, and Kayla Martin, and four nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Virginia and Robert Martin. Her Funeral Service will be Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.
