Patricia A. Butler

patricia butler
Patricia A. (Greene) Butler passed away April 3, 2023 after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer. Trish was the wife of the late J. Brian Butler with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Born in Worcester on July 9, 1941, she was the daughter of Robert and Rose (Arsenault) Greene. Raised and educated in Auburn, MA., she and her new husband, Brian, ventured east and lived the majority of their lives in Newburyport, MA. Following in her mother's footsteps as a librarian, she worked at Amesbury Public Library for 19 years. She also worked 12 years for Yeremian Associates in Newburyport. It was a job which she wholly enjoyed. One of her favorite pastimes early on was to be a member South Hampton Players and the Amesbury Playhouse, famously portraying Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire. Trish and Brian traveled all over the world; Europe, ski and golf trips abroad, cruising and island hopping. She enjoyed skiing, tennis and golf, always enjoying her "Ladybug League" at Ould Newbury GC. Trish was also a stand-out basketball player in high school. Being a member of the Amesbury Rotary Club, she was honored to be able to travel to South America to assist doctors in their charitable works for children born with cleft palate. Trish most recently lived at Brightview Independent Living in Danvers. A place where she found wonderful support and a sense of community...a special place that brought her joy and happiness after the loss of her husband. She is survived by her children, Geoffrey R. Butler of Amesbury, David L. and Michelle Butler of York, ME and Michele M. Thompson of Danvers. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Brian and Christopher Butler, sons of David and Michelle, and Madison Butler, daughter of Geoffrey. She is also survived by her brother Robert Greene of Sarasota, FL and her brother-in-law and his wife, Michael and Joanne Butler of Nashua, NH, as well as nieces and nephews. Services are private, but please consider donating in her name to The Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
