Paul P. Martyn

ALFRED, MAINE- formerly of Beverly, Paul P. Martyn, 77, passed away on November 25, 2016 at his home in Maine.
Born in Salem on July 27, 1939, he was the son of the late Robert and Frieda (Woodman) Martyn. He was raised and educated in Beverly. Paul graduated from Danvers High School and the Beverly Vocational School. During his career, he was employed as a machinist and engineer for the former United Shoe Machinery Corporation, Graves Ski, and Hoague Sprague. In addition to being a talented engineer, Paul had a creative spirit that he shared with his sons. He enjoyed inventing things and held many patents, including one for a machine that he, along with his father, invented. He was an incredibly gifted man with a wide range of interests too numerous to list. He really was a fascinating man; it is too bad you didn’t know him.
He is survived by his three sons and their spouses, Scott and Jennifer Martyn of Byfield, Jeffrey and Manon Martyn of Gloucester, and Todd and Robin Martyn of Beverly, his brother Robert Martyn of California, five grandchildren, Lindsey, Paul, Kahri, Alex and Christian and his former wife, Judith (Connery) Martyn. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard.
His Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in The First Congregational Church, 41 Centre St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Holten Cemetery, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA, 01970.
