Peter D. Clarizia
May 17, 1938 ~ April 6, 2024
Peter D. Clarizia, 85, of Beverly, passed away on April 6, 2024, at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness. He was the cherished husband of the late Linda S. (Roscoe) Clarizia, who predeceased him in 2022.
Born on May 17, 1938, in Beverly, Peter was the beloved son of Mary (DiDonato) Clarizia. His early years, marked by resilience and determination, were spent navigating the challenges of being raised in a single-parent household. Despite these obstacles, Peter emerged as a formidable force in both the business world and his community. A member of the Beverly High School Class of 1956, he demonstrated early on a penchant for leadership and commitment.
Peter's dedication to service was evident through his 22-year tenure with the Army National Guard, from which he retired as a sergeant major, embodying the virtues of honor and duty.
As a young man, Peter ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing himself as a cornerstone of the Danvers business community. As the owner and operator of Elm Street Hardware in Danvers Square, Danvers Paint and Wallpaper, Video Paradise, and the House Doctor Handyman Service, Peter's ingenuity and hard work left an indelible mark. Until the day of his recent illness, Peter was still working fulltime as a caretaker at The Maples in Wenham.
Beyond his business acumen, Peter was a man of many passions. An avid reader, he had a deep appreciation for history, which he often explored through books and discussions. His love for animals was unmatched, particularly for his loyal dog, Kelly, showcasing his kind and compassionate spirit.
Peter's commitment to his family was unwavering. Alongside his son, he managed and maintained several properties, and provided unwavering care for his wife Linda during her extended illness, a testament to his loving and dedicated nature. An avid boater, little gave him more pleasure than being on the water with his family.
He is survived by his devoted children, Eric Clarizia of Danvers, and Amy Clarizia of Beverly; his adored grandchildren, Paige Powell, Andie Clarizia, and Maddie Clarizia; his brother Ronald Clarizia and his wife, Elizabeth Clarizia (Walkowicz) of Beverly, and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched.

Peter was a good friend to my husband and me with weekly visits of love and laughter many years ago. He was in the national guard with my husband and we had many stories of Watertown New York. After my children were born and he married, we lost touch but I would run into Linda and him which brought back good memories. Peter was a good man and a kind friend. Diana Reintges
Many condolences to all the family. Peter was my first sergeant in the National Guard, back in the early 70’s, and I also have good memories from the North Beverly Clarizia family get-togethers. May he rest in peace. Dave Ahern
Peter was a good and kind friend to my husband and me. They were in the national guard together and we had weekly visits with Peter and my husband telling stories of camp drum. After my children were born and Peter and Linda married we sort of lost touch, but I would run into them on occasion and all the memories came back. Rest well, dear friend.
We are sorry to hear of Pete’s passing and send our deepest sympathies and prayers to his family. May you find comfort and peace in the memories of good times. He was a wonderful man whom we enjoyed spending time with at Liberty Marina. Rick and Donna Naples
Peter was the Property Manager here at the Maples Co-op in Wenham when we arrived some 3 1/2 years ago. We soon thought of him as a friend as did all the residents. Not only was he the epitome of what a mahager should be, but his empathy towards each and every resident was unmatched. My wife and I felt an immediate connection with Peter and he is dreadfully missed by us and our community…as is his beloved dog Kelly.
