Philip C. Pitman, 91, passed away on September 11, 2013 in Twin Oaks Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Jane E. (Farrington) Pitman. Born in Peabody on October 5, 1921, he was the son of the late Stanwood and Kate C. (Crosby) Pitman. Philip was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School and was a member of the Holten Royal Arch Chapter. He had been a resident of Topsfield for over 65 years. Philip was very active within his community as a member of the Topsfield Grange and also the Mt. Burnet Eastern Star Lodge. Philip was a machinist and hard been employed in various machine shops on the North Shore. He is survived by his son Paul S. Pitman of Topsfield and a grandson Seth G. Pitman of Topsfield. His funeral service will be held privately at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Philip’s name to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements made by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
