Phyllis Anne Sullivan, 96, died Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, at the Brudnick Center in Peabody. She was the loving wife of the late Edward A. Sullivan, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Salem on December 13th, 1928, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Philip J. and Dorothy (Egan) Hennessey. She was raised under unique circumstances at 16 Dearborn St. in Salem, as first her father then her mother passed away before she attained her majority. She was a 1947 graduate of Salem High School.
She had been a Danvers resident for over 65 years, and a fixture on Garfield Avenue.
Phyllis was employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph for 14 years, and worked for the Essex County Deputy Sheriff’s Office for many years.
She was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church; she was also active in the Riverside Squares square dance club for many years, including several tenures as First Lady.
Phyllis and Ed adopted three children. She leaves two sons, James E. Sullivan of San Antonio Texas and Neal P. Sullivan of Nashua New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Jessie, Caitlin, Carol, and Daniel; and great-granddaughters Erin and Serana. She was predeceased by her husband Edward A. Sullivan, and their daughter, Catherine A. Sullivan Crean.
