Phyllis M. Runnals
August 15, 1926 ~ February 27, 2024
Phyllis Runnals, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 27th at her home at Brooksby Village in Peabody. Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Runnals with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.
Phyllis was born on August 15, 1926, to Edward and Anne (Tully) King in her adored town of Danvers, MA. She graduated from Holten High, Class of 1944 and upon graduation worked at Sylvania Electric as a receptionist and switchboard operator.
After the birth of her first daughter, Phyllis dedicated her life to being a wonderful and loving mother. She excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of her family, through and through. A very spiritual person, Phyllis held a special connection with the blessed Mary. Through trying times, her novenas and rosaries made a difference in the lives of so many.
Phyllis led a vibrant life. She was an avid reader and delighted in playing lively games of mahjong and Rummikub with family and friends. She relished every moment of family gatherings and eagerly attended her grandchildren’s events, praising the contributions of all – win or lose. Her quick wit, progressive points of view and fashion sense left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her. Phyllis loved her family which extended to her pets (Trina, Rusty, Penny, Cleo) and many special animals she met along her travels.
Phyllis’s legacy will forever be imprinted in the hearts and minds of those she touched. Her unending kindness, faith, warmth, and love for her family will be remembered and cherished. As we honor Phyllis’s life, we carry forward her spirit, and the belief in the power of kindness.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Leslie Berenson and her husband Paul, Donna Hussey and her husband Bruce, Warren Runnals and his wife Susan, John Runnals and his wife Sara; her adored grandchildren, Jennifer Hussey, Daniel Hussey and his wife Amanda, Jake Runnals, Lydia Runnals and Alec Runnals; and her great-grandchildren, Cooper, Bruce, Isabelle and Ethan Hussey.
Phyllis’s funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. A visitation will be held before the service from 9:30-10:45AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, P.O.
