Rachel Achenbach
December 30, 1925 ~ June 12, 2015
GROVELAND-Rachel (Rock) Achenbach, 89, passed away on June 12, 2015 in her home. She was the wife of Hart Achenbach with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.
Born in Boston on December 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Thorndike) Rock. She was raised and educated in West Roxbury and graduated from Milton Academy. Rachel had been employed as a cytologist and worked in Brookline’s The Free Hospital for Women. She moved to Danvers with her husband, where she raised her family. She was a former member of the Danvers School Committee.
Besides her husband, Hart, she is survived by her six children, Eric of VT, Carolyn Ingraham of VT, Jef of Nova Scotia, Sue Achenbach of VT, Ellen Lewis of Groton and Tom and his wife Nancy of NH, many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her four siblings.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Her Memorial Service will be held privately.
