Raymond J. Gargan

DANVERS- Raymond J. Gargan, 91, passed away on January 23, 2014 in Putnam Farm Assisted Living in Danvers surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Anne (Madden) Gargan.
Born in Lowell on December 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Edward and Marie (Marquis) Gargan. He was raised and educated in Lowell and moved to Danvers in 1959, where he and Anne raised their family. Raymond was a veteran of WWII with the United States Navy. He served his country aboard the USS LST-29 in the Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. He had been employed with the New England Power Company as a stationary engineer.
A communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Raymond was a parishioner of the former St. Alphonsus Church for many years. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and daily walks through Danvers Square. Raymond cherished spending time together with his family.
He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Kenneth Gargan of Pepperell, Mark and Carol Gargan of Byfield, Michael and Janet Gargan of Danvers, Joan and John Barnes of Niskayuna, NY, and Kathleen and Mark Steen of Topsfield; his sister, Theresa Jackson of VA; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Thursday, January 29, 2015 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St, Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Raymond’s name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.

My sympathy to the family. I grew up with and knew all of the Gargan boys. Especially Mark, Michael and Kenny. Your Dad passed away within two weeks of both my Mom and Dad.
