Raymond Joseph Whalen

Raymond J. “Joe” Whalen, 56, of Middleton, died Friday, July 11, 2014 following a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Rice) Whalen, with whom he shared 24 years of marriage. Born in Lynn on Nov. 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Raymond and Carol (Ferris) Whalen. He was raised and educated in Lynn and served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. A Middleton resident for twenty-seven years, Joe was employed for many years at Eastern Propane until his retirement due to illness in 2012. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading, and was an avid football and hockey fan. In addition to his wife, he leaves his siblings, Linda Hall of Pembroke, David Whalen and his partner Damon Lee of California, James Whalen of Florida, Lisa Darlington and her husband Winston of Lynn, and Laurie Young and her husband Doug of Lynn, his sister-in-law, Dianne Rice of Middleton, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jan Whalen. His Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11AM in Oakdale Cemetery, Maple St., Middleton. Relatives and friends are invited.
