Richard C. Gendron, 84, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. He was the husband of Winifred “Jeanne” (Santagate) Gendron, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Cambridge on Sept. 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Roy and Frances (Sullivan) Gendron. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of St. John’s High School. A veteran of Wold War II, he served honorably in the U.S. Army. For forty years, Mr. Gendron was employed with the W.R. Grace & Co. A longtime Topsfield resident, he was a faithful communicant of Saint Rose of Lima Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Sandra Sanger and her husband Dana of Topsfield, Stephen Gendron of Haverhill, June Schulte and her husband Paul of Danville, NH, Sharon O’Connell and her husband Dion of Amesbury, Richard D. Gendron of Florida, Catherine Woods of Danvers, and Carlene Weaver and her husband Philip of Topsfield, 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St., Topsfield. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
