Richard D. Ames

Richard D. Ames, 88, passed away at the Leonard Florence Center for Living in Chelsea on October 22, 2014. He was the husband of the late Louise (Marcorelle) Ames.
Born in Lynn on November 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Ralph and Ella Ames. Richard was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School. He served our country with the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. Richard and his wife moved to Danvers to raise their family. He had been a member of the Thomas Power Council #1505, Danvers Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 180. Richard had been employed with the Wise Potato Chip Company for many years.
He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Randal and Denise Ames, Robert and Judy Ames, Linda and Mark Lunn, Janet and David Geiger and Dana and Janet Ames, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Cannon.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Richard’s name to the Chelsea Jewish Foundation, 165 Captains Row, Chelsea, MA, 02150.
