Richard D. Healy

BOXFORD- Richard D. Healy, 75, passed away surrounded by his family on January 11, 2023, in Lahey Burlington Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Flanagan) Healy with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.
Born in Washington, D.C. on July 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard and Rosalia (Bigos) Healy. Dick was raised and educated in Washington, D. C. and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He went on to receive master’s degrees from both, Johns Hopkins University and Northeastern University. He served our country as a Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Army and National Guard for over twenty years and was honorably discharged. Dick had a long career in electrical engineering. Upon retirement he volunteered for the Lawrence School District helping young learners explore science and engineering. He was a longtime member of All Saints Church in Danvers. Dick enjoyed the outdoors, where he would take long walks with his dog, Henry, garden and more recently play pickle ball.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by two daughters, Caitlin Healy of Bradford and Melissa Brunelle and her husband, Nicholas of Hudson, NH and his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Marcia Healy of Fairfax, VA.
His funeral services will be held privately. A celebration of life in Richard’s honor will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Greater Boston Food Bank, 70 South Bay Ave, Boston, MA, 02118 or online at www.GBFB.org.
