DANVERS- Richard E. Tropeano, 89, passed away in his home on September 6, 2023. He was the loving husband (59 years) of the late Janet LaRoche Tropeano. Born in Malden on July 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Emilio and Rita (Mazzulli) Tropeano. Richard was raised and educated in Malden and graduated from Malden High School. He also attended Northeastern University and Wentworth College. Richard had a long career as owner of Tropeano Construction Co. He built many buildings in Boston and surrounding communities. When times necessitated it, he pivoted, opening the family-run Auld New Steakhouse and Lounge in Malden where he brought in many local, talented musicians. In his retirement years he was the owner of Oak Grove Laundromat in Malden and later worked as a courier for Northeast Environmental Laboratory, Inc., in Danvers, into his late 70s. He and his wife organized many charitable events for children in need, including Children's Hospital, Toys for Tots, and The Home for the Little Wanderers. He was a proud Democrat, was passionate about his country, always remained current in politics and finance. He was an avid traveler and often said he never regretted spending a penny traveling the world. He was a prolific oil painter, loved to cook and was a passionate Boston Sports fan. In his later years he mostly enjoyed visits from and good conversations with his family and close friends, old and new. He is survived by three daughters, Lisa Tropeano of Danvers, Susan Tropeano and her husband John Lovatt of Danvers and Diann Tropeano of Salem; three siblings, Ann Tropeano of Medford, Mary Rosato (Lou) of VA and Edward Tropeano (Susan) of VA, his grandchildren, Lauren Tringale, James Tringale (Arleia), Zachary Tropeano Lovatt (Elizaveta Andrianova Lovatt), Zoe Lynch (Ryan), Drew Sanborn (Nikki), and Will Sanborn; his great grandchildren, Luka, Anthony, and Nikolai and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
