Richard J. Dunn, 79, of Beverly, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Sylvanowicz) Dunn, with whom he shared twenty-five years of marriage. Born in Beverly on Nov. 17, 1933, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Dean) Dunn. He was raised and educated in Beverly Farms and was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1951. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. For thirty-two years, he served as a firefighter with the City of Beverly, retiring in 1991. Richard loved played baseball in his younger days, and also enjoyed skiing, hockey, and golf. In addition to his wife, he leaves his sisters and brothers, Mary A. Toomey of Danvers, Margaret Gaffney and her husband Frederick of FL, Kathleen Wilson and her husband Donald of Danvers, Julie Deeley and her husband Paul Ziolkowski of Beverly, Ruth Pinciaro and her husband Ernest of Beverly Farms, Christopher and M. Virginia Dunn of Beverly Farms, Stephen and Cynthia Dunn of Beverly Farms, L. Kenneth and Charmaine Dunn of Gloucester, his brother-in-law, Steven MacPhail of Beverly Farms, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Barbara Coffey, Elisabeth MacPhail, and James, John Thomas, and Robert Dunn. His Funeral Services were held privately this week. Burial was in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923. Arrangements by C.R.
