Rita J. (Dunphy) Grossman, 87, died Friday, October 21, 2011 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Paul M. Grossman. Born in Brooklyn, NY on Apr. 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William and Sylvia (Rosasco) Dunphy. She was raised and educated in New York and had been a longtime Danvers resident. Mrs. Grossman had been employed for many years as a branch manager for the former Bay Bank in Danvers and Beverly Farms. She was a member of the Danvers Garden Club. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Judith and Gary Parker of Twin Rivers, WI, Jayne and Stephen Tillinghast of Danvers, Deidre and Mark MacDonald of Hudson, NH, Paul and Deborah Grossman of Port Charlotte, FL, and Kenneth and Patricia Grossman of Beverly, her grandchildren, Tracie Georgiadis, Paul, Jeffrey, and Taryn Grossman, Ashley, Adam, and Amy Tillinghast, and Mirra MacDonald, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Dorothy Dunn of NY. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Grossman. As requested, funeral services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01801.
