Robert D. Perry
July 5, 2011
Robert D. "Bob" Perry, 80, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Aurora C. "Ora" (Girard) Perry, with whom he shared fifty-three years of marriage. Born in Lynn on Oct. 24, 1930, he was the son of the late David and Malvina (Miron) Perry. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He went on to graduate from Salem State University and later earned two Master's degrees there. Mr. Perry served honorably in the U.S. Army, in the honor guard for the 3rd Infantry Regiment in Washington, D.C. and for two years during the occupation of Germany during the 1950s. For thirty-six years, he was employed as a history and social studies teacher in Saugus Public Schools, and for thirteen of those years was a curriculum coordinator. He also taught history for more than twenty years at North Shore Community College and for ten years in his retirement taught French and Latin at St. Mary of the Annunciation School in Danvers. Bob taught for a total of fifty years. It was a milestone he was determined to reach, and did. A communicant of Saint Richard Church, he was a longtime Danvers resident. He enjoyed history, especially that of WWII, composing music and playing the piano. In addition to his loving wife, he leaves his children, Diana (Perry) Provencher and her husband Brett of Amesbury, Robert D. Perry, Jr. and his wife Ava Markey of Auburn, ME, and Richard D. Perry of Danvers, a granddaughter, Kate Markey of Auburn, ME, two sisters, Claire Bobnis and Dorothy Johnson, both of Lynn, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 10AM in St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
