Robert E. Smith

DANVERS- Robert (Edward) Smith, 85, a longtime Danvers resident, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on October 15, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Ruth H. Smith with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Natick on October 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Horrigan) Smith. He was a graduate of Natick High School and Boston College. He is survived by six sons, John and his wife Susan of Newburyport, Joseph of Leadville, Colorado, Charles and his wife Lisa of Hingham, Robert and his wife Tiffany of Pembroke, James and his wife Beverly of Avon, Colorado, and David of Boston, seven grandchildren, Amanda, Amy, Kimberly, Suzanne, Christopher, Michael and Melissa, and two great grandchildren, William and Olivia. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Smith. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert’s name to the Assisted Living Center – Salisbury, 19 Beach Road, Salisbury, MA 01952.
