Robert W. “Bob” Marculewicz, formerly of Essex, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2025, at the age of 92. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Nancy (Brooks) Marculewicz.
Born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Bob was the son of the late Jan and Branislava (Rodolewicz) Marculewicz, who emigrated to the U.S. from Poland. After serving in the United States Army during the Korean War, he was honorably discharged. He later attended the Rhode Island School of Design on the GI Bill, where he met Nancy. In 1959, Bob graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. Shortly after, he and Nancy married and spent a year in the U.K., where Bob pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham.
Upon returning to the U.S., Bob was employed by Corning Glass in Corning, New York, before eventually settling in Essex, Massachusetts, where he and Nancy lived for over 40 years. There, they started a family, and Bob founded his own engineering business, primarily serving the automotive industry.
Bob enjoyed being an entrepreneur and developing small businesses. In his spare time, he loved boating, fishing, clamming, and lobstering on the Essex River. He and Nancy shared a passion for travel, exploring the world both independently and through the Elderhostel program.
A proud Army veteran, Bob became an avid collector of militaria. He also enjoyed woodworking and digital photography. In their later years, Bob and Nancy moved to Brooksby Village, where he made many dear friends. With his charm, twinkling ice-blue eyes, and larger-than-life personality, he was known and loved throughout the community.
Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stefan and Anne Marculewicz of Annapolis, Maryland; his daughter and son-in-law, Alexandra and Mark Adshead of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren: Charles and Benjamin Marculewicz, and Isla and Rowan Adshead. He was predeceased by his sister, Helenka Marculewicz.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Essex County Greenbelt at https://www.ecga.org or Care Dimensions at https://giving.caredimensions.org.
