Roland J. Gagnon, 60, passed away Thursday morning, August 26, 2010 in Anna Jacques Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Salem on August 5, 1950, he was the son of the late Origene and Annette (Levesque) Gagnon. He was raised and educated in Salem and had lived in Salem and Beverly for most of his life. For twenty-seven years, Mr. Gagnon was employed by GTE Sylvania at the Sylvan Street, Danvers Plant, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also employed for ten years as a custodian at Ipswich High School. He was a loving Father and Grandfather. He enjoyed going to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway to watch the car races, collecting model race cars and exploring the back roads of New England. He was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking big dinners for his family. He is survived by his children, Jessica Mandeville and her husband John of Salem, Melissa Gagnon of Saugus, Eric Gagnon of Beverly, and Lisa Gagnon of Salem, his siblings, Richard Gagnon and his wife Laurel of Salem, Suzanne Hopkins and her husband Raymond of Peabody, Marie Emond and her husband Raymond of Beverly, two Grandchildren, Zachary Gagnon and Brady Mandeville, and several nieces and nephews. As requested, funeral services are private and there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roland’s name may be made to the Beverly Senior Center, 90 Colon St., Beverly, MA 01915. Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
