Dear Louisa, Luke and family, I am so sad to hear about Roland…. My heart goes out to all of you. One of my regrets is that during Luke’s graduation, I never had the chance to see him and talk to him. I hope I can say the final goodbye to him at the wake. Last night, I burnt incense for Roland. I wish him peace in the Ying world. ??! Jade

To the family: I was Roland’s colleague in the early 90s and remember him fondly. I was shocked to discover that he died so young. Please accept my condolences and prayers. With respect, Mohammed Askari Chandoo
My parents were friends with Roland’s parents back in the day and we would visit them up in Vermont over a number of years during the summer and occasionally in the winter. Roland wasn’t there all the time as he was often away at school. One summer though I remember him being home and I remember playing basketball with him, taking rides in his Volkswagon and playing racketball at Dartmouth where he whooped my butt. He was a scholar, gentleman and very good athlete as well as an individual I would have liked to have gotten to know better. I found him very personable and enjoyed his company and sense of humor. Unfortunately life’s circumstances took me down a difficult road which I am still on today and it wasn’t possible for me to stay in touch with him over the years. I will always cherish though the brief amount of time I spent with him and want to send my deepest sympathy to his wife and 2 sons. Roland was a good man who will be missed.
