Rose Marie (Brown) Garlin, 93, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Brentwood [Radius] Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on Aug. 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Heiling) Brown. Raised and educated in Cleveland, she served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. She moved to Peabody in 1946 where she resided for many years before making her home in Middleton. For several years, Rose was employed as a librarian at the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers, and had obtained her certificate of librarianship from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Rose was a proud member of the Essex County Marine Corp League and a member of both the Peabody and Middleton Historical Societies. Her love of history and travel led her to explore many countries throughout the world. Her family would like to thank the staff at Brentwood [Radius] Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Rose during her residency. She leaves two sons, John Garlin and his wife Janice of Peabody and Richard Garlin and his wife Katherine of Beverly, two grandsons, Robert Garlin Jr. and his wife Lisa of Danvers and Matthew Garlin of Beverly and two great-grandsons, Charlie and Tyler. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Garlin, and her siblings Edward and Frank Brown and Theresa Bynum. Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday evening, January 29, 2014 at 6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 5PM. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway - Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
