Roy E. Condon

Roy E. Condon, 85, passed away on November 16, 2014 in Beverly Hospital. Born in Danvers on July 10, 1929 he was the son of the late Edward and Mildred (O’Brien) Condon.
He graduated from Saugus High School where he played on the football team and he was a loyal follower of the team throughout his life and regularly attended the annual Thanksgiving Day game. He worked at Danvers State Hospital as Head of Security for many years until its closing in 1992. A talented baseball player, he played baseball during his service in the U.S. Army.
He was the loving life partner of the late Barbara Ferris Luz Newport with whom he shared forty years together. He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie Rhodes of Seattle, Washington; and by Stephen and Mary Luz of Salem; Linda and Steven Luz-Alterman of Lexington, Mariana Luz of Shelburne Falls, Laura Luz of San Rafael, CA and Lydia Luz and Michael Williams of Houston, TX, eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Wilena Rawlins.
His family will receive family and friends on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 5-7 PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. At the request of Roy, all other services are private. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Roy’s name to Care Dimensions, formerly Hospice of North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or to a charity of your choice.
