Ruth A. (Blanchard) Dunn, 81, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at home following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Thomas B. Dunn, with whom she shared nearly fifty-nine years of marriage, and the loving mother of Joanne Bloom of Swampscott.. Born in Salem on Aug. 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Frances (Ploss) Blanchard. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1947. A Danvers resident for fifty-seven years, Mrs. Dunn was a communicant of the former Saint Alphonsus Church. For several years prior to her marriage, she was employed as a clerk in the office at the former Webber’s Department Store in Salem. She was devoted to her family. In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sisters, Doris Kulakowski and her husband Fred and Frances Mohan, all of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two siblings, Marie and Walter Blanchard. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11AM in North Beverly Cemetery, Cabot St. (Rt. 97), Beverly. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
