Ruth G. “Kitty” Benevento, 66, died Sunday, September 20, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn on Aug. 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Felice and Ruth (Smith) Benevento. She was raised and educated in Lynn and had been a resident of Topsfield for nearly twenty years. Kitty was employed for many years at the General Electric RiverWorks Plant in Lynn. She enjoyed traveling and sharing time with a loving group of lifetime childhood friends. She is survived by her loving companion, Robert S. Hanson, Jr., of Topsfield, three daughters, Cheryl Brennan and her husband Charlie of Centerville, Debra Mentuck and her husband Douglas of Swampscott, and Patricia Amendola and her husband Bernard Martin of Middleton, six grandchildren, Courtney and Joshua Parady, Grace Brennan, Taylor Nelson, and Douglas and Paige Mentuck, 3 great-grandchildren, and a brother A.J. Benevento. She was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Benevento. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kitty’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd. #400, Waltham, MA 02451.

  3. Bob and Family, It is with deep sadness to hear of Kitty’s passing. I have fond memories of her when we were in junior high school and spent many times at her house on Marrianna St. She had such an infectious giggle and wonderful personality.
