Ruth J. Zimmermann

Ruth J. (Colby) Zimmermann, 72, died at her home in Danvers on Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was the loving wife of the late George S. Zimmermann. Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Jeannette (Saulnier) Colby. Raised and educated in Middleton, she was a graduate of the Essex Agricultural School. Ruth spent her life as a caregiver. She was a dedicated nurse’s aide at the former Cedar Glen Nursing Home for more than thirty-five years, and then delivered for the meals-on-wheels program through the Danvers Senior Center for several years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a second mother to many of her children’s friends. She leaves her children, Stephen Zimmermann and his wife Cheryl of Salem, Norman Zimmermann and his companion Christine Ayres of Plaistow, NH, Robert Zimmermann and his wife Wendi of Epping, NH, and Theresa Belair and her husband Steven of Hillsboro, NH, her siblings, Robert Colby of TX, Wayne Colby and his wife Donna of CA, Louise Dickerson of NH, and Margaret Coito of NH, her grandchildren, Nicole, Cain, Colby, Cam, Kensley, Jessica, Curtis, Amanda, Christopher, Abby, Austin, Brandon, and Dylan, her great-granddaughter, Mellodi, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Raymond Colby Jr. and Kathy Colby. Visiting hours are Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St, Danvers Square.
