Salvatore P. “Sam” DeLuca, 71, died Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2009. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Miller) DeLuca, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Born in Danvers on Dec. 7, 1937, he was the son of Dominic and Anna (Pirrotta) DeLuca. He was raised and educated in Danvers and resided in Danvers and Lynn before settling in Peabody more than fifteen years ago. Sam was employed for many years as a driver with the City of Peabody Council on Aging. An honorary member of the AOH Div. 11 in Peabody, he loved playing cards. He was a loving and devoted grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed yard-saling with his beloved wife. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Janet DeLuca of Effingham, NH and Scott and Janis DeLuca of Peabody, a sister, Mary Pierce of Tampa, FL, three brothers, Ralph DeLuca of Danvers, Paul DeLuca of Salem, and Dominic DeLuca, Jr. of Danvers, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam’s name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
