In Loving Memory of Suzanne (Nicot) Moynihan

Suzanne (Nicot) Moynihan, beloved Daughter, Wife, Aunt, Godmother, Friend, Artist, Traveler, and Lifelong Learner, gained her rest on September 19, 2026, at the age of 94.

Suzanne was born on May 23, 1932, in Montreal, Canada, to Simon Nicot of Limoges, France, and Jeanne (Arlaud) Nicot of Montreal, Canada.
Suzanne eventually made her way to 1387 Commonwealth Avenue in Brighton, Massachusetts, by way of New York City. She attended St. Aidan’s and proudly graduated from Simmons College with a degree in Library Science. A French woman of class and impeccable tailoring, especially having a father as a shoe designer, who spoke French, English and Spanish.

Suzanne made her mark at Cary Memorial Library in Lexington, Massachusetts, where she shared her appreciation for the arts by introducing the work of local artists throughout the library. Her dedication, creativity, and talent were recognized by the Town of Lexington, an acknowledgment of which she was especially proud.

Oil painting was one of Suzanne’s great passions. She also loved to travel and explored much of the world, including Europe and South America. Her journeys were about more than seeing new places. Suzanne treasured the cultures she encountered and, above all, the many friendships she made along the way.

Later in life, Suzanne met her Husband, James “Jimmy” Moynihan, and they married at Boston University’s Marsh Chapel and shared 42 years together. Jimmy’s career with American Honda took them from Boston to Newport Beach, California, and to Portland, Oregon. During their years in Newport Beach, Suzanne continued to nurture her love of the arts. She participated in the Newport Harbor Art Museum’s docent training program and remained devoted to reading, drawing, and painting throughout her life.

Later returned to New England, settled in Rockport and then Brooksby Village of Peabody.

Family, in its all forms, was especially important to Suzanne. Suzanne embraced Jimmy’s large Family including his six Siblings and numerous Nieces and Nephews located across the U.S. She also treasured her Godsons, Paul Kelly and Andreas Luchsinger and their Families.

Suzanne will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her love of learning and travel, her appreciation of culture, and the lasting friendships and the extended Family she gathered throughout her life. She is predeceased by her Parents, Husband, Godson Andreas, and several dear Friends including Lois Kelly and Martha Luchsinger and their Husbands. She is survived by the Families of her many Nieces and Nephews as well as the Family of her Godson Paul Kelly, his Wife Regina and Paul’s extended Family, and the Family of Andreas Luchsinger.

The Family will host a private Celebration of Life to honor Suzanne, after which she will rejoin her beloved Husband Jimmy at the Military Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Suzanne’s name to www.doctorswithoutborders.org/renew4x. Online condolences may be made at www.LyonsFuneral.com.
