DANVERS- Sven R. Svensson, 80, died Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of the late Priscilla (Cook) Svensson. Born in Sweden on Dec. 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Erik and Hildur (Isaacsson) Svensson. He was raised and educated in Sweden and served honorably in the Swedish Army and later the U.S. Navy after immigrating to this country as a young man. He had been a Danvers resident for fifty years. Mr. Svensson had been employed as a pipe fitter throughout greater Boston, and had been foreman of the pipe shop at the former United Shoe Manufacturing Corp. of Beverly. He was a member of the Golden Fleece Lodge A.F. & A.M. and the Gripsholm Lodge #83, Independent Order of Vikings, both of Lynn, the Northeast Club, and the Polish Club of Danvers. An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed traveling, especially his two transcontinental trips, as well as trips to the Connecticut casinos. He is survived by his children, Kristina Svensson of Danvers, Linda Russell of Hopkinton, and Stanley Svensson and his fiancée Elizabeth Lapointe of Danvers, a brother, Kjell Svensson of Sweden, and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Monday, June 20, 2011 from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:30PM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Svensson’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Norwood, MA 02062.
