Theresa Louise Mercier

Theresa Louise (McNeil) Mercier, 85, died early Monday morning, April 11, 2011 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Paul E. Mercier. Born in Newton on Dec. 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Theresa (Ford) McNeil, she was raised and educated in Newton and was a graduate of the former St. Bernard's High School, Class of 1943. A longtime Topsfield resident, Louise was employed for many years at the Essex County Co-op. She was a communciant of St. Rose of Lima Church and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her children, Denise Mercier-Tirrell of Dover-Foxcroft, ME, Michelle Mercier-Link and her husband Douglas of Topsfield, and Robert Mercier and his wife Joanne of Newry, ME, her grandchildren, Heather, Michael, and Nathan Mercier, Kristin (Mercier) Cisneros, Jessica (Mercier) Nicholas, and Jason, John-Paul, Christina, James, and Denise Tirrell, and three great-grandchildren, Audrey and Travis Cisneros and Sophia Nichols. She was predeceased by a son, Paul F. Mercier, and her siblings Elizabeth Thompson and Bud McNeil. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours.
