Beloved husband and decorated war veteran, Thomas H. Brotchie of Danvers passed away on April 23, 2011. Husband of Rosamond (Carlsen) Brotchie, the couple recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Thomas was the son of the late Andrew and Jane (Leonard) Brotchie of Beverly. A 1939 graduate of Beverly High School, Thomas went on to study at the Coyne Electrical School. His working years were spent at the United Shoe Corporation and GTE Sylvania, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal for his service aboard the USS Submarine “Cobia.” Tom enjoyed playing basketball and was a member of a semi-professional team. He also loved to ski. For 40 years, Tom and his wife, Roz, spent winters on the slopes near their second home in Conway, New Hampshire. Tom took his final run at the age of 78. There, he also spent many summers by the lake enjoying time with family and friends. Tom leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews including John, Stephen, William & Susan Brotchie; Paul & Gayle Brotchie and Peter & Pat Brotchie. He also leaves behind his loving and caring niece, Pamela Spiros and her husband, Nicholas, of Danvers and their dedicated family: Carrie, A.J., & Grace Burnett of Beverly, Colleen & Andrew Ness of Salem, Carol and Peter Spiros of Danvers. Along with, Karen & Daniel Darisse of Danvers and Bruce & Maggie Getchell of Danvers. He is predeceased by his siblings and their spouses- John & Eleanor, James & Nell, Andrew & Mary and Genevieve & Arthur Osgood and two nieces Deborah and Karen Brotchie. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will precede the Mass from 9:30-10:45AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
