Vasilios Orfanides

PEABODY- Vasilios “Bill” Orfanides, 83, passed away on March 4, 2024 in Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of Sandra “Sandi” (Baker) Orfanides with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.
Born in Greece on June 29, 1940, he was the son of the late Dimitri and Maria (Akasi) Orfanides. Bill moved to the United States when he was 15 years old. He lived in New York City where he first drove a taxicab and then became a personal driver. Bill also had been a cook when in New York. When he relocated to Peabody he continued his career as a cook, working at Sylvan Street Grill and more recently in a rehabilitation center. Bill enjoyed horse racing and visits to the casino.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his twin sister, Kaliope Mardikis and her husband, Kosta, his brother Christopher Orfanides and Marie Repucci, two sons, three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children and a brother.
His funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Vasilios’ name to the National Kidney Foundation, 209 W Central St, Natick, MA 01760 and/or Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
