BEVERLY- Violet K. (Veinotte) McPoland, 94, also known as, "The Gorgeous One," passed away on March 26, 2015 in Blueberry Hill Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late James Linwood McPoland with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Peabody on March 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Elizabeth (Dagley) Veinotte. She was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School in 1939. Violet raised her family in Beverly, where she had been a resident for over 60 years. She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church, as a 50-year member, Vi held many of the offices for Friendship Rebecca Lodge, IOOF. Vi retired from Beverly school cafeteria system. She volunteered at Beverly hospital, played Santa's elf and answered phone calls from children at Christmas, loved being chaplain at the Senior Center. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Prest of Kissimmee, FL, and her sister, Elva Goodale Batchelder of Lynnfield, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James L. McPoland, Jr., her sisters, Stella Hawkes, Ruth Dame and Carol Greco, brothers, Ronald, Francis and Douglas Veinotte Violet wondered at her longevity and was told she was here to make people happy. Always happy and optimistic, Vi will be missed. She believed if a person didn't have a smile, you should give them one of yours. Violet’s Funeral Services will be held privately. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Violet’s name to Memorial Methodist Church, 2 Dane St., Beverly, MA, 01915 or The Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
